Blood in Urine and Stool
This problem is most commonly seen in many people and most of them do not take it seriously. Hematuria is the medical term used for the presence of blood in urine and this is considered as a serious health complication. Usually the presence of blood cells in urine and stool are not visible.
Blood in urine and stool is considered as normal if the blood cells are not visible to the naked eye. Urine tests can be conducted in order to know the amount of blood present in urine and stool. A person with a healthy urinary tract may excrete around million blood cells through urine everyday. This condition usually occurs in people suffering from cancer or large prostate.
The very first symptom of this condition is the change in the color of urine and it may turn into dark tar, pink or red in color. Apart from the mentioned symptoms this condition can show up a few more symptoms like the following.
- Burning sensation while urinating
- Frequent urination
- Weight loss
- Stomach pain and
- Back pain
This condition is usually caused due to several reasons. Tumors, diseases, infections, trauma and abnormalities are a few causes of this condition. The following are a few causes that can result in blood in urine and stool.
: Urinary tract infection is the main reason that is responsible for causing this condition. This further results in bladder lining, swelling of the urethra, other renal tissues and ureters. These conditions damage the blood vessels till they turn thin and delicate causing bleeding.
: An injury or a trauma can be a reason for causing the condition of blood in urine and stool. Injuries or accidents usually cause an impact on the lower back and abdomen damaging the kidneys and bladder. Many people suffer from temporary bleeding due to the trauma caused to the kidneys.
: This condition can damage the lining of the stomach. The hydraulic acids present in the stomach may irritate the ulcers and the damaged blood vessels cause bleeding. This blood is thrown out in the form of stool and it may be dark due to the absence of oxygen in the blood.
: Bladder, prostate cancers and renal failure are another reasons that can result in blood in urine and stool. Broken body tissues are usually caused due to tumors which further result in bleeding and bloody stool is considered as a symptom of colon cancer.
